According to industry reports, Norwegian Air Shuttle has announced its plans to buy 222 new planes worth some $21 billion. These planes will be ordered from both Boeing and Airbus. All of this is part of the airline’s very ambitious plans to become one of Europe’s best known and leading low-cost carrier.

Due to this deal, Boeing has now secured its largest ever European order. This is because the airline is actually going to order 122 B737 narrow-body planes from the company. This deal alone is worth about $11.4 billion at list price. However, for such a big order, it is likely that the budget carrier got a discount on the planes.

However, not all the good news goes to Boeing. Airbus found itself in the spotlight as well. In fact, this Norwegian airline branched off from its previous policy of only buying planes from Boeing. Norwegian Air Shuttle is going to purchase 100 A320 narrow-body planes from Airbus as well. This deal is worth about $9.7 billion at list price.

Of course, industry experts agree that it was important for the airline to break such a big order up. Ordering more than 200 planes from one group could take years. By splitting it up between two different manufacturers, the airline will be able to get its planes in double the time.

As a result of this announcement, Norwegian Air Shuttle shares jumped up nearly 13 percent at Nkr74.5. Overall, these are very positive results for the carrier.

There are some airlines out there that are struggling to stay in the air. There are even more airlines out there that are cutting back on routes and airplane orders. Apparently American Airlines is not one of those airlines. This news was brought to light after it was announced that American Airlines was currently negotiating with both Boeing and Airbus over the purchase of at least 250 planes.

This deal is said to be worth some $15 billion, and it is going to help the airline replace some 38 percent of its current fleet. However, that is not the only reason why this news is so big. Boeing, for a long time, has had a stranglehold on this airline, but this deal could see American Airlines buy some planes from Airbus. This would give Airbus a huge foothold in this market.

Although all of the details are not yet known, it is known that Airbus has offered American Airlines a great deal. Currently American Airlines is giving Boeing a chance to counter the offer before it is official.

Right now not much is known about the deal, but people do know the planes that American Airlines is looking into. Apparently it is interested in Airbus’s A320 airplanes. The model they are most interested in is a new A320 model that is due to come out in 2015. In terms of Boeing, they are interested in the companies very popular 737 jets.

Boeing does not have too long to come back with a counter offer if they still want the business. After all, American Airlines has already said they hope to have this order concluded by this summer.

It now seems that the manufacturing giant, Rolls Royce, suffered yet another shares slump. This fall came after the chief executive of Qantas said that oil leaks were discovered in three engines on board its super jumbo fleet. All of these engines were, of course, made by Rolls Royce.

Qantas went on to ground six giant A380s after an engine exploded minutes after taking off from Singapore to Sydney last week. The exploded engine showered pieces all over Indonesia’s Batam island.

The Qantas boss, Alan Joyce, said that engineers found leaks beyond an acceptable level in three engines that were built by Rolls Royce. The manufacturing company, which is actually working with Qantas on the investigation of the engines, has seen its market value fall more than £1.5 billion since the incident.

Singapore Airlines, which also flies these super jumbo jets, said that its inspections have found no problems with its Rolls Royce Trent 900 engines. Despite this, Qantas and Rolls Royce engineers carried out eight hours of extensive checks on each engine over the weekend.

Mr Joyce said that the oil leaks were beyond normal tolerances. So Rolls Royce and the Qantas engineer team has looked at what they have gathered as an accepted level, and these engines are leaking beyond that threshold. All of the engines are new engines on a new aircraft type. The engines are not performing to the parameters that people would expect them to.

Joyce said that all of the airline’s A380s would be grounded at least for an additional 72 hours. He said that they are not going to take any risks with these planes whatsoever.

Apparently Airbus may get a major gain over its arch rival Boeing. This news comes after Ryanair suggested that it is considering to switch to Airbus for its next order. The low cost carrier went on to say that it was considering ordering up to 300 planes, and that it would be foolish to disregard Airbus’s A320 aircraft. This is a plane that could actually help to cut the airline’s fuel bill by as much as 15 percent.

Howard Millar, the Ryanair finance director, said it would be unwise of the company to ignore something that would give them a significant reduction in fuel costs. The company is interested in the developments of the Airbus family in terms of any new engine options.

Despite these encouraging words for Airbus, no formal talks have gotten underway yet. Ryanair still shares a chilly relationship with Airbus. This is due to its cancellation of a large order five years ago. This order was then given to Boeing.

As of right now, Airbus said that it had no plans to do business with Ryanair. However, analysts argue that Airbus might be forced to rethink that. Right now it is a tough aviation market, and they need all of the orders that they can get.

So this brings up the question: Who will break down first? Will Ryanair go crawling back to Airbus after leaving them empty handed so many years ago? If Ryanair does go back, will Airbus take them back?

There are a lot of questions left unanswered. However, the truth of the matter is that the aviation industry is a scary place right now. Plane makers need orders, and airlines need to save money. It’s a win-win if both companies could get off their high horses.

It now seems that some body remains were found on the rear wheels of an Airbus 320 that was landing in the Saudi Arabia capital of Riyadh. Minister Ghazi Aridi went on to confirm that these remains were found on the plane after it landed with 130 people on board.

The remains of the human body were discovered just shortly after the plane landed. In fact, reports suggest that the body was found while maintenance was being done on the plane. Aridi said that the body, as of Sunday, has not been identified. No further details are being made immediately available about this situation pending investigation.

Aridi went on to say that he has given orders to Lebanese civil aviation authorities to be in contact with their counterparts in Riyadh and with Nas Air officials to follow up on details of the incident and investigation. These are all the details that can be given out at this time.

Despite the fact that Aridi did not give out anymore details, reports are showing that a number of passengers said that they saw a man wearing a cap with a backpack running towards the plane before it took off. They said that he stumbled to the ground and then got up and continue heading towards the plane. The passengers and crew informed the pilot about the man, but he went ahead with take off anyway.

As of Sunday, there were no more details available about the man. It was not yet known where he is from or if passenger reports are correct about a man running towards the plane. More information will become available after the man is identified.

Emirates, the well known carrier that is based out of Dubai, has now ordered 32 more Airbus A380 superjumbo jets. This will give the carrier an order list that is 90 planes long. This makes Emirates the world’s largest A380 customer.

Just recently, reports show that Emirates now accounts for some 40 percent of the worldwide orders for Airbus and its A380. Right now Emirates’ order is valued at about $11.5 billion at list price. However, it is also suspected that Emirates got a very big discount for buying in bulk.

Airbus CEO Tom Enders said that this is the single largest A380 order ever placed. He calls the order a sign of confidence in the A380 and of course Airbus as a whole.

Right now, Airbus has delivered 10 A380′s to Emirates, The carrier flies the jets on several different routes, depending on the length of the flight. Either way the jet typically holds about 525 passengers.

However, even with the prospect of having 90 of these superjumbo jets in its fleet by the end of 2017, Emirates is also considering adding A380′s that have an even larger seating capacity. The President of Emirates, Tim Clark, said that the airline would be interested in buying a stretched version of the A380 that can seat about 1,000 people. This is a model that Airbus is now considering building sometime in the near future.

Experts have went ahead and put a perspective on this carrier’s new big order. They point out that, in 1985 the company had just 2 planes. Now it has grown to rival the likes of Singapore Airlines and Qantas.

Emirates airline yesterday revealed plans to receive a sixth Airbus A380 jet next week and another before the end of the year after raising over $1 billion in financing.

The funding deal takes places as other Dubai state-run companies are facing scrutiny over their willingness to pay back over $80 billion in debt. Emirates, the world’s top buyer of the A380 is fully owned by the city-state.

President of the airline, Tim Clark, said the carrier remains financially secure in spite of concerns over the health of other Dubai state borrowers.

He added that Emirates had never experienced difficulties in obtaining finance for their aircraft acquisition program, with both international and regional banks comfortable with their financial stability.

Clark went on to point out the airline had always honoured its financial commitments and was pressing ahead with its ambitious growth plans.

The airline said it received $1.13 billion in financing for six A380 superjumbos from Citigroup and Doric Asset Finance, and the funds would b used to pay for the aircraft being delivered this year and next.

A recent price list for the French based aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, shows the A380 jet selling for an average of $327.4 million, though airlines usually negotiate discounts especially for bulk orders.

Emirates now own five A380 jets and have a further 53 on order, more than any other airline. The rapidly growing carrier also operates more Boeing 777 jets than any other airline.

The airline plans to operate the new aircraft on routes to Paris and Seoul later this month.

It now seems that Singapore’s Tiger Airways is set for an initial public offering. This is all a bid to help the airline get financing for the purchase of 50 Airbus A320s. This low cost carrier, which is now 49 percent owned by Singapore Airlines, has enlisted Morgan Stanley, Citigroup and Singapore’s DBS bank, to manage the IPO. The company is planning to sell up to 51 percent of its shares.

Some sources have already quoted that Tiger Airways could raise anything between $200 million and $1 billion through the IPO. One source said that existing investors will stay invested. However, it was unclear if shareholders would subscribe to the offer.

Of course, there are a few other companies that own stacks in Tiger Airways. Right now Singapore state investor Temasek currently holds 11 percent of the stakes in the company. Also, RyanAsia, which is a company that is controlled by Ryanair, also owns 16 percent of the stakes in the carrier. The remaining stakes in the company are currently owned by Indigo Partners LLC.

The news of the IPO plan follows just after news on the disclosure that Tiger Airawys rival, Malaysian Air Asia, which is southeast Asia’s largest low cost carrier, could be seeking a secondary listing on the Bangkok stock exchange. The founder of Malaysian Air Asia, Tony Fernandes, said just recently that discussions could eventually lead to a merger between Air Asia and its Thai and Indonesian affiliates. This would create a single stock listed on three exchanges. More information about Tiger Airways and its IPO will be sure to surface later on this week.

It now seems that reports suggest that Korean Air will be operating an Airbus A380 to London in time for the 2012 London Olympic games. The chief executive of Korean Air has apparently confirmed the statement.

The A380, which was meant to be in operation in time for the Beijing Olympics, would start flying from Seoul to London in time for the games. This is big news for Korean Air, as many people love to go watch the Olympic games. Right now many airlines are doing all they can to bust routes and capacity to London in time for the games.

The chairman and CEO of Korean Air, Yang Ho Cho, said just recently that the UK market is important for Korean Air. This is because London is one of the most important hubs in all of Europe. This is something that Korean Air hopes to take advantage of and, thus, explains the launch of an A380 on the route in time for the Olympic games in 2012.

Yang Ho Cho went on to say that the carrier has ordered 10 A380′s, and they had hope to have them launched in time for the Beijing Olympic games. He said that they will now operate in the bigger markets and London. He noted that they will be on the London route in time for the games this time.

Yang Ho Cho added that Korean Air would welcome Japan Airlines as the ninth member of the Skyteam alliance of airlines. He said that Japan Airlines is a very important airline in Asia and Skyteam is currently negotiating with the carrier.

It now seems that Emirates has revealed that some of its Airbus A380′s that it has ordered, which were scheduled to arrive in the coming months, have been delayed. However, despite this delay, it is not ruling out the possibility of ordering even more. This may be done by trying to take over orders that other rival airlines are trying to stall on.

The Emirates Chairman and chief executive, Sheik Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, speaking just ahead of of next week’s Dubai Air Show, did not say just how many deliveries would have to be pushed back. He did say that he did know that there would be a bit of a delay.

He went on to say that Emirates is considering increasing its order for the super jumbo jet. The carrier has a total of 58 of these planes on order as of now, and this is more than any other airline. Five of these big jets have already been delivered.

Emirates has reported a fiscal first half profit of nearly $205 million, more than double its earnings from the same period last year. Although these numbers are good no matter what the economy is like, these numbers look amazing considering that many other airlines are reporting nothing else but millions of dollars in losses.

Of course, Emirates is not just following through on its commitments to Airbus, as they are also the leading operator of Boeing’s twin engine wide body 777 jet. Judging by what has been going on recently with Emirates, this seems to be an airline that is up and coming, and there does not seem to be much that can stop it. Not even the recession has been able to slow down its growth.
