According to reports, a new deal has just recently been signed between Europcar and leading IT service firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Reports show that this is a multi-year deal worth millions. In fact, the IT subsidiary of Europe’s car rental leader, Europar Information Services, chose TCS to manage the development of IT Services for its French operations.

Pascal Vallerent, who is the Europcar Information Services skill center director, said that the objective of this deal was to continue improving the company’s standardized and structured development process. Overall, they were looking for a partner who has the highest standard in quality and has the ability to demonstrate flexibility. On top of this, they also wanted to choose a partner who could help Europcar optimize both time-to-market and cost control. TCS was able to score the highest in all of these categories.

Kumar Narayanan, who is the TCS France director and country head, said that the deal with Europcar is part of its development strategy for relationships with industry-leading businesses in France. It helps to renew TCS’ strategic dedication to the region and their ability to create operating models for the unique needs of their French consumers.

In other Europcar news, the company has recently become the first car rental firm in the UK to offer car and van hire by the hour. This will help give individuals and corporate clients more flexibility when choosing a rental. It should also help consumers save money when compared to daily car hire prices.

For a while now, there have been a number of reports that suggest that China is not going to take part in the European Union’s emissions scheme. However, it now seems that these reports have been confirmed. In fact, on Monday, China made it very clear that it will not allow its airlines to take part in the Emissions Trading Scheme. Mostly, this is because China feels that this scheme violates international rules.

Unfortunately, for the European Union, this news comes just before a summit. During this summit, the European Union was hoping to get some money from China to ease its own debt. However, with how upset China is over the emissions scheme, it is very unlikely that China is going to help.

For people who do not know, this European Union Emissions Trading Scheme has been the topic of much controversy for a while now. In fact, the scheme will see all airlines that fly in or out of European airspace charged for the carbon emissions that they emit. Countries all over the world have been opposed to this scheme. China, the United States and India have been the most vocal about it.

Chinese and European Union leaders will soon find themselves at a summit in Beijing. During this meeting, the European Union is hoping to dip its hands into China’s huge foreign exchange reserves to pay off its own debt. However, this new emissions scheme could prove to be a big “elephant” in the room. Only time will tell if China lets this scheme affect its choice to help the European Union or not.

Think the job market can’t get any worse, think again. Reports now show that there will be at least 13,000 more people out there looking for work soon. This news comes in as American Airlines announces its plans to make some cuts and end its current pension plans for employees and retirees. This is all happening while the airline attempts to reorganize itself under bankruptcy protection.

Thomas Horton, who is the CEO of the parent company to American Airlines, AMR Corp, said that they are looking to return to profitability. In order to do that, the company must cut spending by close to $2 billion a year. On top of that, it also has to raise another $1 billion a year in revenue. All of this has to be done by 2017.

He went on to say that there is no avoiding the fact that the cost reduction will be deep. There is no sugarcoating the effect that this is going to have on people. Unfortunately, there is nothing that the airline can do about it.

Unfortunately, for the maintenance workers, they will suffer the most cuts. In fact, they will see their ranks cut by 4,600. Baggage handles are next in line and will see a drop in workers of at least 4,200. In all, 2,300 flight attendants, 1,400 management employees, and some 400 pilots will lose their jobs as well.

Right now, the airline and its three unions are trying to agree on labor cuts. However, if they cannot work out a deal, then the airline simply has to ask the bankruptcy court to impose them, and it would be a done deal.

The summer Olympic games are going to be huge. People from all over the world are going to be heading to London to watch the games. This has caused demand to increase greatly. However, it now seems that the high demand has just been given a bit of relief. Of course, with rooms going so quick, it is unlikely that this “relief” will last long.

According to reports, the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games had reserved some 40,000 hotel rooms in London for over 600,000 nights. This was all part of London winning the bid to host the games in the first place. However, it now appears that 20 percent of these nights are going to be unreserved to create more supply in the market. Overall, this translates to about 120,000 nights at about 200 hotels being freed up.

Of course, this should not come as a shock to people as it was all part of the deal. In fact, the deal stated that all unwanted rooms and nights would be returned to the hotels. Now that these rooms have been given back, hoteliers around London can more effectively plan for the summer games.

Paul Deighton, who is the chief executive of the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, said that the London hotel industry got behind the bid to host the games in a very extraordinary way. In the end, this helped London win the bid. They also vowed that they would not hold onto hotel rooms that weren’t needed and return them to individual hotels at the start of the year. That is what is happening now.

Lately, there have been a number of people who have gotten air miles for different things. For example. Citi bank just recently offered people who opened a checking or saving account some 25,000 airline miles. Now, this sounds like a good deal on paper, but it’s apparently going to cost some people more than what they bargained for.

According to recent reports, the IRS plans on collecting taxes on these 25,000 airline miles. This is going to result in a surprising tax bill for some. It’s important to keep in mind that not all airline miles earned are taxed. For example, the airline miles that are earned for using a credit card are a rebate, and thus are not taxable. However, the miles earn for opening an account are a gift. This is taxable income.

Some of the consumers who signed up with this Citi deal have admitted that they have already received their 1099 tax forms in the mail. This was a tax bill that many were not expecting to get. Now the real question is: How much is the IRS charging for these airline miles?

Believe it or not, the amount the IRS is charging might be more than what some expect. Apparently, each mile has been valued at 2.5 cents per mile. For 25,000 miles, this brings the tax bill to $625. This is a bill that some people simply cannot afford to pay.

The important thing to remember is that Citi is notifying the IRS of all consumers who took part in this program. So, anyone who signed up for this deal can be expecting a tax form in the mail any day now.

There are a lot of things that can be done to cause someone to be banned from traveling. However, it now appears that two tourists have been banned after making certain comments on Twitter. The comments that were left on Twitter might sound kind of destructive; however, these Tweets were taken out of context.

According to reports, Leigh Van Bryan and Emily Bunting were detained and held in a cell for 12 hours after landing at Los Angeles International Airport just last Monday. Apparently, Leigh had been flagged by the Department of Homeland Security after he said via Twitter: “Free this week, for quick gossip/prep before I go and destroy America?” He also tweeted: “3 weeks today, we’re totally in LA p****** people off on Hollywood Blvd and diggin’ Marilyn Monroe up!”

When read like this, it is easy to understand why some people believed that he was planning some kind of attack on America. However, this was not the case at all. In fact, his second quote comes directly from the hit US comedy Family Guy. On top of that, in Britain, the term “destroy” is used as a slang term that means party.

After arriving at the airport, they were both quizzed for five hours before being handcuffed and put into a van with illegal immigrants. From there, they were kept in separate holding cells for 12 hours before being taken back to the airport to be deported home. Before they are allowed to travel back to the United States, they have to apply for visas from the US Embassy in London. Next time, the two will rethink the comments they post on Twitter before traveling overseas.

Is it fair for travel insurance providers to charge certain people more than others? What about charging people who are over the age of 65 double what they paid just a year ago? Regardless of how people feel about it, it appears that is just what is happening.

Money Mail has just recently done an investigation that revealed that travel insurance providers in Britain have doubled in the last year for holidaymakers over the age of 65. Some of the best-known providers in all of Britain have now been accused of charging certain travelers hundreds of pounds more for coverage. This news comes as the cost of an annual policy has jumped from £163 to £361 in some cases.

Travel experts now admit that they are very worried about these jumps in premiums. They are scared that this will deter people from wanting to buy travel insurance. This goes double for the elderly who are on a fixed income as it is. The last thing the travel industry needs right now is to deter anyone from traveling.

Of course, some companies are not overcharging the elderly, they are simply refusing to cover them at all. This is because elderly travelers are a lot more likely to have health issue when traveling. However, some experts assume that these changes also have to do with insurers having to pay out large sums of money in recent years due to ash clouds and earthquakes. Charging elderly people more may just be a way for providers to earn back some money.

Should breastfeeding be banned in public? Well, there are different thoughts on this issue. However, most people will agree that it should at least be banned when riding in a moving car. After all, trying to preform this act while a car is in motion is not only dangerous for the mother and child, but for others on the road.

According to reports from New Zealand, multiple women have been caught breastfeeding their babies while traveling down the motorways. So far, details of three Auckland women doing this have been made public. However, experts say that these women are just a few of the thousands of women who endanger their lives and the lives of their babies by breastfeeding while driving.

Thankfully, the women who were caught breastfeeding their infants while in a moving car were not driving. However, these women were passengers in vehicles that were going down the road. This is dangerous for a number of reasons, but Inspector Shana Gray went on to explain in more detail.

Shana said that infants that are being breastfed this way could very easily be ejected from the car if the driver had to stop their vehicle quickly. It could be even worse if the car were to be involved in a serious accident. This could easily cause serious injury or even death to the baby.

Women who were caught feeding their babies while a car was moving down the motorway during a 10-day police operation were given a warning and a $150 fine. The fine, which will continue, is mostly to help encourage the parents not to let such an act happen again.

According to industry reports, Norwegian Air Shuttle has announced its plans to buy 222 new planes worth some $21 billion. These planes will be ordered from both Boeing and Airbus. All of this is part of the airline’s very ambitious plans to become one of Europe’s best known and leading low-cost carrier.

Due to this deal, Boeing has now secured its largest ever European order. This is because the airline is actually going to order 122 B737 narrow-body planes from the company. This deal alone is worth about $11.4 billion at list price. However, for such a big order, it is likely that the budget carrier got a discount on the planes.

However, not all the good news goes to Boeing. Airbus found itself in the spotlight as well. In fact, this Norwegian airline branched off from its previous policy of only buying planes from Boeing. Norwegian Air Shuttle is going to purchase 100 A320 narrow-body planes from Airbus as well. This deal is worth about $9.7 billion at list price.

Of course, industry experts agree that it was important for the airline to break such a big order up. Ordering more than 200 planes from one group could take years. By splitting it up between two different manufacturers, the airline will be able to get its planes in double the time.

As a result of this announcement, Norwegian Air Shuttle shares jumped up nearly 13 percent at Nkr74.5. Overall, these are very positive results for the carrier.

Over at American Airlines, most employees are really worried about the state of their pensions. Of course, it is hard to blame them with the parent of American Airlines, AMR Corp, filing for bankruptcy last November.

According to reports from American Airlines, more than 90 percent of their workers with vested pensions would not see any kind of reduced benefits, even if the airline terminated its pension planes. Despite this claim, many workers are only taking it at face value.

Jeff Brundage, who is the senior vice president of human resources, sent a letter to employees of the airline group on Monday. His goal here was to attempt to end workers’ fears about the future of their pensions.

Mr. Brundage said, for the employees out there worried about their pensions, don’t be. Even if the pension plans are terminated, more than 90 percent of participants would see no reduction in their pension benefits accrued as of the November 29, 2011 Chapter 11 filing date if payments begin at normal retirement age.

Despite this news, the company did not disclose just what it plans to do with its pension program. After all, it has yet to be brought up in bankruptcy court filings. What people do know is that American Airlines only paid about $6.5 million in a pension contribution recently. Reports show that the company was scheduled to pay some $100 million. When viewed in this light, it is very easy to see why so many employees are worried about the state of their pensions.
