It now appears that a lot of tours operators are canceling excursions to Sharm el-Sheikh. This news has come as holidaymakers are now expressing safety fears over a series of shark attacks that have occurred in that area.

British holiday companies said that they want to put consumers’ safety first. Thus, they do not feel like they can offer tours right now to Sharm el-Sheikh, where a series of shark attacks have left one lady dead and several more injured.

Right now there is a temporary ban on entering the sea off Sharm el-Sheikh, imposed by the Chamber of Diving and Water Sports. A lot of tour operators fear that consumers will not want to travel to this area anyway, as long as the swimming ban is in place.

The price comparison website, Skyscanner, has already reported a 13 percent drop in searches for flights to Egypt ever since the shark attacks happened last week. Experts point out that the internet is one of the reasons for the quick drop.

These experts go on to explain that the travel industry is both helped and hurt by the internet. Due to the internet, more tickets are able to be sold by many more companies. People can learn about new areas and then travel to them. However, the internet also allows for news to spread faster. The news of these shark attacks spread to the UK very quickly after they happened. This caused the number of tourists that were coming to the area to drop very quickly. Hopefully this is a problem that can be taken care of quickly.

According to reports, Disneyland Paris will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in just under 18 months. Anyone who has ever been to a Disney theme park knows that this is one theme park that goes all out for birthday bashes. Thus, it is pretty easy to guess that the celebration at Disneyland Paris is going to be huge and an event that people around the world will not want to miss.

Back in the ’80s, when Disney announced its plans to build a new European park, it created a sensation that would be hard to match today. This was because travel to the United States during this time was still booming despite tough economic circumstances. It seemed like a trip to Disney World in Florida was the number one thing for people to do. So it’s pretty easy to guess how excited people in Europe were when they heard that Disneyland was going to come closer to them.

People in Europe, instead of flying half a day over to America, could enjoy Disney fun right on their backdoor step. Ever since then, Disneyland Paris has been a smash hit – popular with kids and adults of all ages. This is one birthday party that people of all ages will love to witness.

The French government, when the park was first getting underway, offered substantial support. In fact, the government had to offer all sorts of guarantees in order to prevent Disney from building in Spain or the UK instead. In fact, it could have very easily been Disneyland London or Madrid instead.

People all over the world are excited about this birthday bash and are expected to travel to Paris to take part in it. People who are wishing to visit the park on this day may want to start buying tickets as soon as possible.

It seems that just recently, travel giant Holidaybreak has been able to report some good news. This, of course, stops a week of bad news from the tour operator. Apparently now the group is reporting a very healthy rise in trading on the back of flourishing school programs.

The tour operator apparently reported that revenue at its UK outdoor education centers, which host a lot of school trips, increased by 8 percent year on year. The group, which currently owns some 15 brands which does include PGL and Eurocamp, said that families are ditching traditional package holidays. This is the main reason for the growth in sales. The chief executive of the company, Martin Davis, said that parents tend to prioritize things to do with their kids’ education.

Holidaybreak suffered from lower volumes and smaller margins in its hotel division. The company saw sales down 4 percent in the period from April 1 to August 11th. Group sales were also down 1 percent for the year to date.

The camping division of the company, however, engineered some very careful cuts in capacity. This could have been why this division of the company did so well. David went on to add that parents tend to pay for their kids’ trips in small installments. This helps the company appeal in an economy where people have been cautious of big ticket purchase.

On the other hand, Thomas Cook and TUI both issued profit warnings earlier last week. This was due to holidaymakers tightening budgets. It is likely that other tour operators are going to start offering installment plans as well, much like Holidaybreak. This way they would be able to appeal to more people too.

The well known United States billionaire, Donald Trump, has just flown to Scotland to finalize plans to build the world’s greatest golf course, according to him. However, the best laid plans often go astray, and a group of local protestors has bought a parcel of land that they argue will thwart the £1 billion seaside development.

Donald Trump’s proposal is to transform this coastal land on the Menie estate near Aberdeen into two 18 hole championship golf courses, a luxury hotel and timeshare flats. A number of families whose properties are on the land are insistent that they shall not be moved from the area. They have formed a protest group called Tripping Up Trump. It has bought some of the land belonging to Michael Forbes, one of the residents refusing to sell.

The acre of land, which the group dubbed The Bunker, is in the very heartland of the planned Trump golf resort, The claim is that the development cannot proceed in its current form without that lot. The group said that by putting the names of hundreds of protesters on the title deeds, it would create a massive legal headache for the Trump Organization and Aberdeenshire Council if they were to pursue a compulsory purchase order of the site.

The American tycoon, and his son Donald Trump Jr, arrived at Aberdeen Airport earlier this week to speak to the media. However, he did not say whether he would be talking with the protestors or not. If the golf course gets the go ahead, then it could be a big tourist attraction for Scotland and help bring in more tourists.

Thanks to the Easter holiday, Pontins has just recently enjoyed a nice 40 percent jump on last year’s numbers. One reason why this year’s numbers were so high was due to the fact that so many Brits were opting to stay in the country compared to last year. Many families really enjoyed their staycations last year and continued the new tradition this year.

Pontins was able to get old and new guests to come to their parks with many different forms of entertainment. This included performances by X Factor rejects, Same Difference. Over the course of April, this group will entertain guests at the firm’s five parks.

Pontin’s, which was actually just recently bought by Ocean Parcs in 2008 for £48 million, has announced a healthy 28 percent surge in February half term bookings as well. The Chairman, Graham Parr, said that the secret of the brand’s renewed success was listening to what customers demand and consistently deliver.

As these numbers suggest, Pontins had been having a lot of success this year before the Easter holiday hit. Thus, it came as no shock to experts or to Pontins staff that the Easter holiday brought in more guests than it did the previous year.

These kinds of parks around the UK, not just Pontins, have been enjoying increased numbers lately as Brits opt not to take overseas vacations. In order to keep people coming back for more, these entertainment areas are having to come up with fresh new ideas to bring people back time and time again. It will be interesting to see, as the pound recovers, if these entertainment areas are able to keep people coming back for more or if Brits will opt to take their money elsewhere.

Although the travel industry has been on shaky ground lately, it seems some holiday event groups are doing just fine for themselves. In fact, a lot of companies in the UK have been thriving ever since travelers have opted to stay home instead of traveling abroad.

Last year a lot of places like Thorpe Park and Alton Towers saw a nice increase in the amount of people that visited their parks. This was due to the fact that people were hit hard by the global recession and did not have extra money to travel. Well this year the recession is finally coming to an end, but a lot of these places are trying to make sure that these travelers opt to stay home yet again.

Thorpe Park is hoping that its new SAW Alive horror maze will help people opt for the staycation this year instead of leaving the UK. This new attraction, which has been billed as the world’s most extreme live action horror maze, is based on the grizzly horror movies by the same name. Thorpe Park is hoping that this attraction will, not only bring back guests from last year, but maybe bring in some new tourists as well.

However, Thorpe Park is not the only UK attraction working on keeping Brits in the country this year. Alton Towers’ brand new Th3teen ride is sure to keep people coming back for more. This is a roller coaster that is suppose to mix physical horror with psychological horror. The ride takes place in a pretty creepy woodland setting and at one point even takes riders into a dark building It is here where their ride will actually drop 19 meters before they start the ride again. However, this time they do the ride in the dark and backwards.

Just recently Haven Holidays has come out and announced their program for entertainment for the 2010 Easter holiday season. This seems to be yet another push to get Brits to stay in the UK for their holidays instead of traveling overseas.

For the people that are looking for a break, which does not involve leaving the country, Haven Holidays could be the holiday resort they are looking for. One reason why it is a favorite of holidaymakers everywhere is because it has 35 parks across the UK that offer a wide range of activities and amenities. Since there are so may parks, it’s easy to find one close to home.

For the Easter holiday, guests to the parks will be able to enjoy events like Easter egg decorating, bunny mask making, finger puppets, and even bonnet making. There will be a number of outdoor activities as well. Some of these will include things like an Easter egg hunt across the park. However, these outdoor actives are subject to good weather.

Haven Holidays is investing GBP 40 million across its UK parks. This money is going into the parks to try and give everyone the best holiday experience possible. Experts also point out that this money is going into the parks to keep customers coming back for more.

Thanks to the global downturn, many people did not travel overseas last year. This got them to revisit old parks that many people in Britain had long forgotten about. To make sure these guests do not forget abotu these parks again, they are updating to keep people interested.

Once again, Haven Holidays has proven that it is one of the top places for UK travelers to choose as their short break hot spot. Last year parks like Haven Holidays became very popular with UK travelers due to the fact that many opted for “staycations” instead of traveling abroad. Although the economy is picking back up this year, it seems that UK holidaymakers are once again looking to take part in staycations.

One of the reasons why places like Haven Holidays have already been reporting great increases in reservations is due to the fact that UK travelers can choose to go to these areas for much less than what they would have to pay to travel aboard. Right now even Haven Holidays is offering breaks that start as low as £99 per family. Since Haven Holidays has parks all around the UK it’s the perfect getaway for

just about any family. It’s hard for airlines and tourist organizations to compete with that price.

Some experts have been pointing out that the pound has been increasing in value. Which does mean that UK travelers’ hard earn money will last longer abroad this year than it did last year. However, even with this increase in the pound, UK travelers are still reluctant to start traveling just yet. Thus, experts go on to say that it looks like it’s going to be yet another year of “staycations.”

On that same note, experts did say that parks like Haven Holidays would have to continue to improve to keep people coming back year after year. Just before the economic downturn hit, more people were opting to travel abroad. Although the recession has re-sparked holidaymakers’ interest in staycations, it may not take long for the spark to die if these parks do not continue to improve and make people want to come back year after year.

The prices for a Butlins break start at just £59 per person, per break based on four people sharing a Sliver self-catering apartment. People are able to book Butlins vacations by visiting the Butlins website for booking information.

Butlins is telling guests to go ahead and book early in order to avoid disappointment. Chances of rooms booking fast are high due to all of the stars that will be performing live at Butlins. The UK resort group says that it’s the perfect chance for fans of the show to see their favorite stars live and in person. Since this is the first time that stars from both shows have been put together, it’s a sight that many holidaymakers will not want to miss. Space is limited and all rooms are sold on a first come first serve basis.

It’s been reported that the UK based holiday park operator Haven Holidays has just recently announced that it will be spending more than 40 million pounds upgrading its facilities and improving the quality of its accommodations available at their 35 UK parks. This announcement comes following a great year for the park due to the fact that many Brits chose to stay home for the holidays and look for entertainment right inside the UK.

In fact, Haven Holidays had a record breaking year in 2009, and thus, the company wants to invest this extra money right back into the park. A lot of the upgrades and improvements will actually be available for holiday makers as soon as 2010.

All the guests that are staying at Haven Holidays next year will be able to take advantage of their new upgraded water parks, bar facilities and golf courses. The overall goal for the park operator is to offer more ways for people to be able to enjoy themselves while staying at the park.

Three of the parks are set to receive new children’s play areas, which does include Hopton in Great Yarmouth, Marton Mere in Blackpool, and the Littlesea in Weymouth. These new children play areas are designed to provide safe but exciting fun for kids of all ages to enjoy.

Family holidays at Haven Holidays will also be enhanced with the construction of a Space Bowl Water feature as part of its pool complex at Haven’s Thorpe Park in Cleetthorpes. A Lazy River will also be one of the attractions that is added at the Haggerston Castle in Northumberland and Combe Haven.
