The typical beginning of the holiday season involves American families taking to the road to visit friends and family, along with exciting holiday shopping excursions.

As a result of this, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, one of the nation’s largest car hire companies, has recorded a double-digit increase in profits this year, compared with the last 12 months.

Spokesman for the company Steve Short, said that during the Christmas peak travel period, customers mainly made traditional road trips to be with relatives and friends on Thanksgiving.  He went on to say that with the economy beginning to show signs of recovery, they are also heading to local and regional shopping malls to take advantage of the early-bird bargains on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and for customers with a smaller sized car, bringing back those bargains in a rented larger could be most cost effective and easier.

Enterprise has announced that neighbourhood branches will be open on the Friday following Thanksgiving and are also offering special rates for the weekend.

Short continued by saying that the people often refer to a rental car as a virtual car, because people rent to fill a need that their everyday vehicle cannot meet, whether it’s for more room or greater fuel efficiency.  That is why Enterprise advise to buy for the need and rent for the exception.
