Reports now show that British Airways is adding an additional flight to Shanghai come this December. This will take the carrier’s number of services to Shanghai from five to six per week as of December 4th, 2009. This decision has been taken due to the increase in customer demand for the very popular destination. Some experts say that this increased interest was brought on by the Olympics.
The British Airways regional general manager for the Far East, Kevin McQuillan, said that they need to meet the needs of their customers and make travel as comfortable and convenient as possible. This is the main reason behind the extra flight per week to Shanghai.
Right now Shanghai is one of the largest thriving metropolises in the world. The city boasts huge skyscrapers, trendy bars, and amazing restaurants. Not only is this a great place for leisure travels to visit, but since so much business takes place in Shanghai, many business travelers find themselves heading to this area as well.
British Airways is also offering a range of hotels in Shanghai as well. All of the hotels offer services for both business and leisure travelers. In order to welcome the launch of the new flight, British Airways has, of course, reduced its prices at all hotels in Shanghai until the end of the year. Thus, making it the perfect time for travelers who wish to see Shanghai to make the trip.
Right now airlines are doing all they can to make sure that they can make it to the end of the recession. This includes increasing flights on popular routes. Many airlines have been cutting a lot of their routes in order to save money, but a few airlines are now starting to add more flights again. This could be a sign that the economy has finally bottomed out and has no where else to go but up.
