More so, the awards are renowned for raising the bar for the best customer service and overall business performance, as growing numbers of travel companies, airlines, operators and resorts compete to take out one of the prestigious awards.
Approximately 3000 travel operators were nominated in over 200 categories in the awards ceremony.
A total of 750 guests, including senior management and decision makers came together to celebrate their achievements during the ceremony, along with VIP guests from within the travel industry.
President of the World Travel Awards, Graham Cooke, said that over the past 12 months, there have been significant challenges, namely due to the downturn of the economy and the outbreak of swine flu, however the winners yesterday have remained focussed on their long term objectives and continued to deliver above and beyond the call of duty, setting an example for the industry.
Each winner has been automatically put forward for the spectacular World Travel Awards Grand final which will take place tonight.
