It now seems that the ongoing dispute between British Airways and thousands of their cabin crew members is set to make an appearance in High Court. The Unite union will begin its legal action against the airline, but some lawyers are suggesting that it is not likely that the court will grant the orders due to the precedent it would set for public policy.

The Unite union is trying to obtain a court order to stop British Airways’ proposed alterations to the working arrangements of its cabin crew members. The union is also threatening to ballot for a strike, which the results of will be released soon.

The new contracts that British Airways is proposing is set to go into affect as off November 16th. The Unite union is arguing that they will hit pay, terms and conditions for workers at a time when British Airways is aiming to cut thousands of jobs, as well as freeze pay. British Airways has gone on to insist that the changes to the working conditions will not alter contractual terms and conditions for individual crew members and will resist the injunction application.

The cabin crew has vented their anger on British Airways at a rally in which 2,500 members attended. It was here where members of the Unite union voiced their concerns over the tightening of the company’s spending. However, these are cuts that the airline says have to be made.

The national officer at Unite union, Steve Turner, said that people are feeling very angry and frustrated at British Airways’ actions. People find them inexplicable and will not stand for it.
