It now seems that the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways, has just launched flights to its latest destination in India, the city of Hyderabad. This announcement comes just after Etihad announced its new services to Chicago, showing that this is one airline that is not slowing down on expansion.
Etihad Airways will now be the first airline to operate flights between Abu Dhabi and the state capital of Andhra Pradesh. Starting off, the airline will be operating four flights a week, but this is something that Ehtihad will increase to daily flights once 2010 starts.
Now with the addition of Hyderabad, Etihad Airways now flies to seven Indian destinations, including New Delhi, Kochi and Chennai. Overall, the carrier now operates 42 flights to India every single week.
The chief executive of Etihad Airways, James Hogan, said that they are just thrilled to launch flights from Abu Dhabi to Hyderabad. He went on to say that Etihad Airways remains very committed to serving the Indian market, and these new flights prove it. The carrier will operate an Airbus A320 on this new route.
The CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, Mr Sripathy, said that they are delighted to welcome Etihad Airways to Hyderabad. This will now give travelers a wider choice of options on which carrier they would like to choose when flying to the United Arab Emirates. He went on to say that he is sure that the new service will be well received and that they will continue to offer their support in helping Etihad Airways further increase the frequencies of its routes.
