Ryanair Announces Free Seat Giveaway
by Stuart Parker October 13th, 2009
It now seems that Ryanair has embarked on its biggest free seat giveaway ever. Reports are showing that this big free seat giveaway, which will be coming in the following days, is being used to counter the BBC Panorama investigation.
Right now the Irish budget carrier has pledged more than 100,000 free seats with no taxes or charges at all for every false claim that is made in the BBC program. The airline has dismissed the documentary, which seems to focus on the airline’s passenger charges and cost cutting tactics.
The chief executive of Ryanair, Michael O’Leary, is understood to be upset that he was denied the chance to give an unedited interview for the program. The program, on top of hitting on Ryanair’s cost charging structure, goes on to to examine the airline’s dealings with aircraft manufacturers and airports.
Some of the things that were brought up in the report were that the cabin crew were required to pay £300 for their uniform during their first year working for the company. This is something that is repaid after 12 months of service.
A spokesman for Ryanair has already claimed that they no of one false claim that the BBC will talk about, and that is accusing Michael O’Leary of being a bully. He went on to say that after that, they are going to give away 100,000 free seats for every false claim that is made during the broadcast. The seats are going to be offered from UK airports across Ryanair’s European network.
A BBC spokesman said that it was a good deal, but he did not think that Ryanair would be offering any free seats due to the fact that there will be no false claims in the program. Thus, they are telling travelers not to get their hopes up.
