Just recently, an agreement between OnAir and Saudi Arabian Airlines was announced. This agreement was to install full SwiftBroadband Mobile OnAir and WiFi Internet OnAir In-flight Passenger Communications Services on Saudi Arabian Airlines flights. These services will be added to the carriers’ fleet of twin aisle Airbus A330 aircrafts that fly international routes. Saudi Arabian Airlines is expecting the delivery of their first A330 aircrafts in April of 2010.

With this new agreement Saudi Arabian Airlines will be able to allow their passengers to stay connected in-flight using their own mobile phones or BlackBerry type devices. They will be allowed to send and receive text messages, emails, and even make and receive phone calls. Also, this service will allow access to the internet on phones that are set up for it.

When using the Internet OnAir service, the passengers will be able to access the VPN networks and Internet in the same way that they would connect on the ground when using their laptops on a wireless connection. It is said that the passengers that are on board these Airbus A330 will be enjoying the broadest range of in-flight connectivity that can be found anywhere in the world today.

The director general of Saudi Arabian Airlines, Khalid Abdullah Almolhem, said that by providing this service as part of their ongoing drive to make customers happy, the airline is able to improve its level of service and beyond what is offered by other airlines. This new service allows customers to stay in contact with friends, family and colleagues while in the air.
