A conman has managed to clone a card to buy £3000 worth of fuel at the same petrol station in West Midlands over a six day period.

Police have said that the man used a fake fuel card at a BP Supermart Petrol Station in Willenhall Road, Bilston at least 40 times.

He also offered drivers in Birmingham the chance to fill up by offering discounted fuel, leading a convoy of drivers interested in cheap fuel to the filling station.

Detectives claim that the man was of Asian appearance and aged in his late 30s.

A police officer from Bilston police station claimed that the man had told attendants that the petrol station he ran a car hire firm and chose to fill up his fleet’s tanks overnight.

He would meet motorists at Coventry Road in Birmingham, and then offer half-price petrol.

The owners would then accompany him to the petrol station where the man filled up their tanks with fuel using a cloned card, and the owners paid the man half of the value of the fuel dispensed.

Police have released CCTV of the man of heavy build, sporting a black goatee beard.
