North Cypriot car hire agency, Pacific Rent-a-Car has urged tourists to book car hire now in order to guarantee pricing and availability for the 2010 peak holiday season.

Pacific Rent-a-Car is forecasting a major shortage of vehicles which will render last minute bookings almost impossible as the company struggles with demands.

Statistics show a 15 percent increase in the number of tourists choosing Northern Cyprus as a holiday destination, compared to Southern Cyprus which has recorded a 30 percent drop.  This is partly due to the better exchange rate the Turkish Lira offers in comparison to Euro which is the currency of Southern Cyprus.

The global downturn in worldwide travel has hit the car hire industry hard, and many hire firms in Cyprus have gone out of business, and companies have been unable to obtain credit from banks in order to upgrade or replace their fleet.

Pacific Rent-a-Car currently offer a 15 percent discount to customers who book their car rental early, also offering peace of mind that there will be an available car upon arrival.

Many analysts are forecasting a sharp rise in the cost of car hire next year, something that has already been witnessed in Greece and Spain during the recent holiday season.  Holidaymakers planning to hire a car for the 2010 holiday season are advised make arrangements sooner rather than later to avoid missing out on a car or paying extortionately high prices.
