Haven Holidays Reports Jump in Caravan Sales
by Howard Williams August 27th, 2009
A cultural experience, which was well known during postwar Britain, has been given new life thanks to the credit crunch. So what is this so called “cultural experience”? Well it just so happens to be referring to a British caravan park, which has seen sales jump up this summer.
Haven Holidays just reported earlier this week that they have seen a 38 percent increase in sales of caravans this summer. Travel experts note that the big increase is directly related to the credit crunch and the fact that many Britons are now trying to steer clear of overseas holidays for cheaper ones right in their own backyard.
Haven Holidays, which is a part of the Bourne Leisure Group, just so happens to be one of the biggest caravan park operators in all of Britain. They went on to note that they have sold 2,500 caravans on mainly coastal sites since the summer season started. This means that 25,000 of its caravans in its 34 different parks are now owned by third parties.
The senior product manager at Haven, Naomi Woodstock, said: “A lot more people are holidaying in Britain now and that’s making a huge difference. More and more people are coming to the parks and typically it is those who have had a holiday with us and enjoyed it that buy the caravans. We have also noticed a rise in the demographic. A lot of people that would traditionally have gone overseas are now visiting the parks and buying caravans.”
Haven Holidays went on to say that it has already recorded a 15 percent increase in visitors to its caravan parks this summer holiday when compared to last year. A spokesman went on to say, “The people that are visiting the resorts are finding that they are pretty different from what they remember as children. They are pretty comfortable and have fully equipped kitchens.”
