Any travelers that are looking for car hire should book early or run the risk of having to deal with sell outs and price hikes. Carrentals.co.uk, the leading car hire comparison site, has told consumers that do not book early that they may have to deal with increased fees or run the risk of not even finding a car to rent. The comparison site has already reported on such areas as Alicante and Malaga as having a shortage of cars.

Most likely the recession is to blame for the shortage of car hire. Many rental companies cut their stock in order to battle the falling demand in 2009. This has now left holidaymakers with little to do but book early or be prepared to pay a hefty price.

The car hire companies have scaled back in light of the credit crunch, but visitor numbers during peak periods have held up. He also noted, “Travelers need to book early and look beyond the big brand names.
