Iranian Airlines Crash into Wall Kills 17 People
by Amy Drew July 28th, 2009
Just a few days ago, seventeen people were killed after an Iranian Airlines plane caught fire as it was landing. After catching fire during the landing, the plane then skidded off the runway at an airport in the northeast end of the country.
Reports go on to say that the Iranian Airlines plane did, not only catch fire last Friday, but it also skidded off the runway into a wall that ran alongside the runway. 19 people were injured in the crash that was caused by the cockpit fire, and 17 other people were killed. In told there were 153 passengers on the Russian-made Ilyushin plane.
However, this is not the only problem that Iranian Airlines has had this month. On July 15, an Iranian Airlines plane crashed very soon after take off, killing all 168 people that were aboard it. Reports have shown that these crashes could be due to the fact that Iranian airlines all across the country, even state run ones, are very strapped for cash. This means that maintenance has suffered.
These are the same reasons why many other airlines across Europe and other places in the world have been closed down. If airlines are not able to keep up maintenance because of lack of money, then aviation authorities have no choice but to close them down. This is because customers’ safety is suppose to come first. If planes are not being taken care of the way that they are suppose to be, then the airline has to be shut down for failure to maintain their planes.
