Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group has come together to open a new Rent A Car location in Poland for their first time.

Dollar and Thrifty have opened a new location this month in the Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport, which is in-terminal, as part of the master agreement with the Warsaw Armada Fleet Management Service. They are also planning to be fully operational later in the moth at Katowice International Airport, and there are 3 more places where they have scheduled an opening by the end of the year. One of these includes an in-terminal spot at the International Airport of Warsaw Frederic Chopin, where both of the brands and other local locations will offer their car hire services.

Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group will offer a mixture of manufacturers and vehicles in Poland, and they will emphasize on the Toyota Motor Corporation. They expect that 80% of their business will come from corporate travelers while the other 20% will be from leisure customers.

Poland is a developing country, and its population is around 38 million. This makes it the biggest country out of the ones that have been added recently in central Europe to the European Union. In fact, Poland is growing twice as fast as Western Europe, and in 2006, its Gross Domestic Product increased by 5.8%. The Warsaw Airport is the busiest airport in Poland. They handle just short of 70% of the passenger traffic for the country. In 2007, the Gdansk Airport’s traffic grew about 36% and served 1.7 million passengers compared to 2006. The passenger volume at Gdansk is expected to increase another almost 40% for this year.
