Right now as Okura is searching for some great European areas to build in, it puts London and Paris into its sights. The five-star, Japanese hotel chain, which already has one European property in Amsterdam, is looking for some other top areas in Europe to place a few more hotels. It is also looking at targeting New York in its expansion as well.

The general manager of Okura Amsterdam and the executive director of the company, Marcel van Aelst, said that properties in London are under negotiations. He went on to say that the company may not be able to afford to buy property in London right now, but it would be happy to sign a management deal for the time being. Marcel said that they would certainly invest to get the right property, but they are looking for a management agreement as of now.

Marcel went on to say that Okura Hotels has been in a bid for the Cafe Royal in Regent Street, London. However, the decision needed to be made too quickly for the company’s director. It was now looking again into London, as well as Paris and New York. However, actual areas that Okura Hotels is looking into have not yet been announced.

As of Now Okura Hotels has 17 properties in Japan, as well as five outside the country. This includes one in China, one in Hawaii, one in the Netherlands, and two in South Korea. The last one was opened back in 1971, and is fully owned by the company.
