The chief executive of Ryanair, Michael O’Leary, has released his ideas on a plan that he has been considering that involves making a standing room for passengers on flights. This would allow even more people to be squeezed onto flights. It is ideas like this that have given him the name Mr. O’Really in the airline industry.

Right now, Ryanair is having talks with Boeing about designing this so called standing room. Whenever a customer buys a standing ticket, they would perch on bar style stools with seatbelts that go around their waists. During this kind of style seating, Ryanair thinks that it would be able to pack about 50 percent more passengers on each plane and still cut costs by about 20 percent. Thus, making it the perfect answer for the current economy.

However, before Ryanair and Mr. O’Leary can jump on board with this idea, they have to get the plan approved by the Irish Aviation Authority. If it gets approved, then they will be placing an order for a new fleet of these planes.

Of course, Ryanair is not the first airline to consider the standing ticket idea. In fact, China’s Spring Airlines already initiated the standing ticket idea almost a year ago. The airline has been trying to cope with the surging numbers of passengers on their new flights. However, it is only being used on about 13 planes as of now.

This is just yet another announcement from Ryanair on how it can cut costs. Some other ideas that Ryanair has already came up with include having passengers carry their own luggage to the plane and even charging a fee for passengers to be able to use the toilet.
