The huge national chain Travelodge has now said where it would like to build its new hotel in Morecambe. Many sites were suggested for the hotel chain after the company revealed last year that it planned to build a hotel in that area.

Two of the spots that were suggested to the hotel chain included the former Froniterland site and the new Morecambe football stadium at Westgate. Many believed that Travelodge was going to choose to build it around the Morecame football stadium in Westgate, because it would get business from all of the people that came to see games there. So many people thought that the hotel was going to choose that area – that it had already outlined permission for the hotel to do so.

Travelodge shocked everyone when they said that their spot was going to be neither of those two areas. In fact, the hotel chose that it wanted to build a new hotel right in the center of town. The site chosen by Travelodge is on Euston Road. If the plan gets the go ahead from the city, then new reception areas and stairwells would have to be established at the corner unit, which is currently occupied by Barnardo’s.

If Travelodge’s plan is approved, then it will be building a 60 bed room hotel in that area. This new hotel would bring in 16 new jobs for people in the community. Although it does not sound like much, people in that area are happy to hear anything along the lines of new job openings. The economic downturn has been very hard for everyone, and a new Travelodge could bring some new hope.
