A £4 million project has finally been open at Alton Towers, which is being called Sharkbait Reef. This new area is situated in the Mutiny Bay part of Alton Towers resort park. Being part of the Merlin Entertainment group, this new aquarium at Alton Towers will be part of the Sea Life Group of aquariums.

This new pirate themed aquarium’s main goal is to help bring in more travelers during the economic downturn. Here guests will be able to explore an underwater shipwreck, as well as take part in many hands on activities. Some of the hands on activities at Sharkbait Reef will include the touching of marine life in the touch pool.

To help raise up the hype of Sharkbait Reef, Alton Towers has said that this is the greatest marine aquarium in all of the UK. The attraction will display more than 300 species of marine life. This includes several different species of shark. There is also an area where guests can walk through a 10 meter long clear walkway that allows them to get up close and personal with sea life in their own natural habitat.

The Sales and Marketing Director of Alton Towers, Morwenna Angove, said that they are thrilled to finally bring Sharkbait Reef to the public. They are confident that this new attraction will help to delight people of all ages. Alton Towers hopes that this new area will give families an underwater adventure that they will never forget by throwing in a pirate theme. The spokesperson went on to say that there is no other experience like this in the UK, and it should help to attract new guests.
