The Pacific Asia Travel Association Conference says that budget carriers are filling the void that has been left by some of the full service airlines. Many major airlines like Qantas, Singapore Airlines, and Cathay Pacific are trimming down routes, budget airlines are now stepping up to fill in the routes that have been cut out. Thus, people are being less affected by these sudden cuts on routes.
The Pacific Asia Travel Association Conference went on to say that the low cost carriers are the least affected by this downturn in the economy. Budget carriers in areas all over the world, including in the UK, Australia, and America are doing extremely well at the moment, despite the struggles of some other airlines.
Another great thing about low cost airlines picking up these dropped routes is that they are increasing the frequencies of the routes. The Pacific Asia Travel Association Conference made note that this has been very helpful to many travelers around the world. They go on to say that this is making the customer feel like the airlines are catering to their needs instead of the other way around.
Over the past few weeks, budget carriers have been very aggressive, not only to one another, but to major airlines as well. They are coming out with lower and lower fares, as well as increasing the frequencies of their flights. It will be hard for other bigger airlines to keep up with this growing trend.
These budget airlines have also been great for the economy. Since they are picking up more and more routes, many of the budget airlines around the world are having to hire more staff.
