easyJet and Europcar have partnered up in order to raise the awareness of carbon offsetting among their customers.  Customers who decide to book their car hire via easyJet’s website until January 8th will have their carbon emissions offset by the companies.  For every vehicle reserved during this period, easyJet and Europcar will make a contribution to ClimateCare, a top worldwide carbon offset provider.

The contribution will be used in order to fund activities for combating climate change and decreasing emissions.  With experts located in destinations across the globe, ClimateCare, which is based in the United Kingdom, has more than 50 projects developing all over the world, funding technologies for low carbon emissions offsetting with environmental and social benefits.

Both easyJet and Europcar have calculators for customers who wish to know what their carbon footprint is, as well as offsetting programs that are available on their websites.  The new action from these companies is designed for making consumers more aware of the part that they could play in environmental protection.

Europcar is a car hire sustainability pioneer, and they opened a Paris environmental station 10 years ago.  The company was the first car hire agency in Europe that offered electric and hybrid cars as well, and they also update their fleet with cleaner-energy models constantly.  They then became the first company in Europe to have their Environmental Charter Certified in June by Bureau Veritas Certification.  Europcar also launched an electronic car hire contract system that reduces paper consumption substantially.
