SAS Airlines is now Europe’s Most Punctual Airline
by Ted Harris August 27th, 2010
According to recent reports, the well known Scandinavian airline, SAS, has been revealed as Europe’s most on time carrier this summer. This now makes the second year in a row that this airline has been given this crown. Other reports go on to show that Ryanair was more punctual than British Airways.
Flightstats, which is known for monitoring flight arrival and departure times, found that more than 90 percent of SAS’s flights were on time during the period from May to July of this year. This carrier was also Europe’s most punctual airline back in 2009.
Of course, the good news for the airline did not stop there. According to more reports, SAS is not only the most punctual in Europe, it is the most punctual in the whole world. Now that is one thing that many airlines never get the chance to claim.
Other airlines did not fair so well in Europe. Ryanir was only able to post a punctuality of 69.18 percent, which turns out to be higher than British Airways’ 68.22 percent. However, both of these posted way better numbers than easyJet who only had some 52 percent of their flights arriving on time. The good news for SAS is that these are figures that consumers look at when choosing an airline.
In the wake of easyJet’s poor performance, the company’s founder Sir Stelios Haji Ioanno, has warned that he may revoke the “easy” brand name from the company. He said that the company needs to reduce their average early to just 15 minutes by October or they will lose their “easy” name. This could spell even more bad news for easyJet.
