British Airways Makes Major In-flight Agreement
by Ted Harris November 19th, 2008
British Airways has agreed to a multi million pound agreement for the Thales TopSeries In-Flight Entertainment system, which will be installed on their next generation planes and new delivery aircraft.
The multimedia system, which has clearer and bigger LCD screens, is going to provide customers with access to over 100 movies, 400 CDs, and 300 programs, along with a range of podcasts and radio programs whenever they desire. It will also include a range of multiplayer and interactive games, along with many e-learning applications, of which will let customers enjoy online-like experiences from their seats. Other features include: RCA and USB jack ports for each seat, laptop power plugs in-seat, and noise canceling headsets.
Jamie Cassidy, the General Manager of Product Management at British Airways, said that the new Thales TopSeries In-Flight Entertainment system will go far past the basics. It is a system, where everything is on demand, that allows passengers the chance to do what they wish, when they wish.
Mark Barclay, the Managing Director and Vice President of Thales, a United Kingdom aerospace company, said that they will deliver an entertainment system in-flight that will reinforce the brand and service of British Airways in every class. He also added that Thales is happy about the selection and expects that the two companies will continue raising the bar in the in-flight entertainment field.
The entertainment system is to be delivered for installation during 2010 on British Airways’ new delivery Boeing 777300ERs, their Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and their next generation Airbus A380s.
