UK to Beta Test New Hilton Site

UK residents who use Hilton Hotel’s website to book their reservations or plan their trip will notice several changes over the coming months as Hilton prepares to launch their new website world wide. Following an 18 month process of designing a new site and adding more features Hilton will take the new site live over the next month.

The new site, which is being Beta tested by users in the UK, will be launched piece by piece. The testing will help Hilton’s web designers find any kinks in the system that could adversely affect the company when launched world wide. Following the launch in the UK Hilton plans to launch new sites in Germany and Japan before working on their US based site set to launch during 2009.

According to representative from Hilton Hotels more than 20% of all reservations made with Hilton are done through their site rather than booking sites. With the enhanced services customers will be able to find what they need quickly. The new version of Hilton.com will include better search results that give guests more information without having to click through numerous pages. “People are looking to shop narrow but shop deep” and the new site will allow that. By placing a list of amenities and pictures of the property in the initial search results travelers can find what they are looking for in one glance.
