Reports now show that a tourist has been savagely attacked by a pack of monkeys while on a tour to cure her phobia of monkeys. The 56-year-old tourist, Dee Darwell, is from Cambridgeshire in southern England. She was bitten and grabbed by several macaques on a tour to Monkey Island in the Andaman Sea, near Phuket.

Ms Ddarwell said that a monkey took her wrist and pounced on her right arm. It then sunk its teeth into her and hung off her arm. She said that the monkey would not let go, as he was locked on. She said that she was absolutely petrified and was shaking from head to foot.

She said that there was a man, another tourist, who saw the monkey bite her. He screamed and ran off. It was at this time that another, bigger monkey bit her arm just next to the other one that was biting her. At this point she was surrounded by monkeys.

The tour leader, Yongyut Buasod, said that he was unable to control the monkeys if they decided to bite someone. He said that they always warn the tourists. He said that, on this day, someone had been teasing the monkeys. These monkeys do not necessarily attack the specific person that was teasing them.

The woman, after being attacked by the monkeys, collapsed with blood “pumping” out of a deep hole in her arm. The monkeys had to be pulled off of her by Thai fisherman.

Ms Darwell said that her fear of monkeys came from her childhood due to the fact that her father owned a chimpanzee. She described the chimp as being positively evil. She now warns tourists that go to Thailand to stay away from monkeys.
