Alton Towers Allows Queue Jumping For a Price
by Natalie Cooper June 14th, 2010
It now seems that some theme parks have just recently come under attack for encouraging families to spend extra money on special tickets that allow guest to jump lines. However, these special tickets come at a price.
The cost of buying entrance tickets has already shot up more than 20 percent at most leading UK parks in the last three years. However, some parks have even introduced other charges as well that can make the cost of one day at the these parks as much as £500.
The good news for families is that, at many of these parks, the extra charges are voluntary. Thus, most people do not even pay attention to them. However, the special ticket offered at Alton Towers does have a few families a little more than upset.
So what do people get for this extra money? Well they get a special little machine that clips onto a person’s belt. Then that person simply taps on the ride that they would like to go on, and it will start to bleep when they are allowed to go into a separate queue. This queue is, of course, a lot shorter than the main queue that normal guests have to wait at.
People are upset, because this new ticket allows families that are a little more “well off” skip lines at Alton Towers. This in turn, does cause the main line not to move as fast. The families that cannot afford this extra price are forced to wait through these now even longer lines.
Alton Towers does give its consumers the ability to add on a lot of extra charges if they want. On top of the, £38 entrance fee for an adult, the priority tickets can rage between £6 per person to £80 per person. This price changes depending on how many rides the person wants to jump. If families want to buy an Ultimate Fast Track Machine, then they will have to spend £60 per person. Depending on how many people are in the family, this can add up rather quickly.
