British Airways Helps Passengers in Need
by Ted Harris August 31st, 2008
British Airways has rescued the passengers who were stranded by the cancellation of Zoom Airlines’ flights, offering seats for half the price on one-way tickets for the people who were trying to make it home. The offer is applicable to those who have return flights from either Paris, North America, or the United Kingdom, which were suddenly suspended after the ceasing of Zoom Airlines’ operations on Thursday. However, Michele Kropf, a spokeswoman for British airways, said that the offer for half-price tickets is subject to the aircrafts having enough seats available, so the only time that passengers in Vancouver are able to take advantage of this offer in on Sunday, which will not get them home to Britain in order to make it to school or work on Monday. She said that there are 8 flights every day from New York City to London, which allows travelers in that area to use this opportunity.
This means that the passengers who are stranded in Vancouver, trying to make it home to the United Kingdom, will get the offer on fares to London for Sunday only, when they will only pay 568 Canadian dollars, instead of 1,136 Canadian dollars. On the other days for this weekend, it is going to cost 2,327 dollars for Monday and Friday and 5,146 dollars for Saturday. The airline is also offering discounts of 100 dollars on their World Traveler or World Traveler Plus fares for round-trips for whoever has booked their flight with Zoom Airlines, but hasn’t started their trip yet.
