Jet Airways Shows Growth For Fourth Month in a Row
by Isabel Taylor February 17th, 2010
India’s premier airline Jet Airways has just announced a fourth consecutive month of impressive growth for January 2010. This helps the airline further strengthen its leadership in the Indian aviation industry. Growth for any airline right now is almost unheard of due to the economic downturn, so having four months of growth is extremely rare.
Jet Airways comprehensively improved on its performance in December of 2009. It reported a 30 percent surge in international passenger traffic for January 2010. Domestic passenger traffic last month also grew by 26 percent when compared to the same time last year.
On top of this, the airline’s average seat factor for its international operations for January 2010 also grew to 84.9 percent, reflecting a growing passenger demand. JetLite, which is Jet Airways’ all economy subsidiary, posted a 12.8 percent growth in passenger traffic as well.
These very robust figures have been registered despite the disruption in flight schedules over North India due to inclement weather and the fog in Delhi that hurt travel back in January of 2010. Overall, this is a carrier that is showing that it is willing to fight to gain grown in the aviation world.
The Chief executive officer of Jet Airways, Mr. Nikos Kardassis, said that four consecutive months of growth reaffirms the fact that Jet Airways is set to further consolidate its leadership position in India. The airline’s ability to fully anticipate customer and market requirements and consequently customize its product to cater to them is what has helped Jet Airways stay on top things.
