Many people have different reasons why they travel. Some travel to get away from the norm, while others travel to see more of the world. However, it seems that there is a growing number of people, even in the UK, that simply travel to taste foods from all around the world.

People who enjoy traveling around the world tasting foods, trying wines, and so on are informally called foodies. This was a term that was coined back in 1981 by Paul Levy and Ann Barr, who used it in the title of their 1984 book “The Official Foodie Handbook.”

Well it appears that a recent report from Mintel has revealed that there are new destinations that will be joining the list of top foodie travel destinations. Right now the top places that UK foodies are places like London, Paris and Provence. Now Dubai, Hong Kong, Croatia, Czech Republic, Chicago and Las Vegas have been added to the list.

These places have been added to the UK foodie list, because they offer great meals at affordable prices. Also, the Post Office Travel Service has recent found that foreign currency exchange rates for sterling against the different types of foreign currency in five out of six of these recommended destinations has improve over last year.

So if UK foodies are only able to travel to one of these locations this year, which place should it be? Well according to the Post Office Travel Service Holiday Money Report for travel money value, Dubai is the new hot spot. The improving foreign currency exchange rate means that UK foodies can enjoy a 12.6 percent better exchange rate this year compared to last year.
