VisitBritain to ramp up advertising campaign
by Howard Williams January 28th, 2010
In a bid to draw more tourists to the UK, VisitBritain has teamed together with British Airways and Easyjet to promote cities across the UK, with the ongoing efforts from 2009 to be continued, with a focus on cities including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Newcastle-Gateshead, Glasgow, London, Liverpool, Mancheser and Oxford. The destinations are to be given the added boost of publicity from VisitBritain throughout 2010, and will encourage travel to these cities by highlighting the unique points and showing how tourists can travel to and around them.
As the travel industry pushes to bounce back from what was a tough year for travel, with many Britons opting to holiday at home, coining the expression ‘staycationers’, it is hoped that the weak pound will encourage travellers to visit Britain from abroad in 2010. With the high-performing euro against the pound and many other foreign currencies, many in the travel industry believe that there will be an influx of holidaymakers from Europe this year who intend to take advantage of the strong exchange rate.
There is something for everyone in the UK to experience, including some of the world’s best shopping, with regular sales that can be found at all times of the year, it is a great way to draw the attention of foreign tourists.
Airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet also help attract tourists from Europe with their cheap flights and broad range of destinations.
