Travellers from abroad to the UK have discarded hotels in the nation’s capital, as London establishments miss out on a place in the top 25 hotels in the UK.

No hotel, motel, backpacker, or any form of accommodation whatsoever made it to a list of 25 hotels, voted for by travellers for the annual awards, organised by online travel company TripAdvisor.

According to the survey, the best hotel in Britain was Rudding Park, situated near Harrogate, Yorkshire, with travellers offering praise for its faultless service.  It was the top hotel in the UK and voted as one of the best luxury hotels in the world.

In second position was Manor Coach House in Worcester, which was named as the second in Europe’s best budget hotels.

Coming in third place was Boskerris Hotel in St Ives, Cornwall, with Can-y Bae in Llandudno, North Wales in fourth.

Outside of the top 25 was the Soho hotel in London, which was the best performing hotel for the nation’s capital, while UK bed and breakfast establishments took places two and three in the top B&Bs in Europe, which was headed by Casa Portagiola in Tuscany, Italy.

Marketing vice president for Trip Advisor, Alison Copus, pointed out that the Olympic Games were just a short while away, and it is a worry not to see a single London hotel in the top 25 UK list.

She concluded by saying that come 2012, all eyes would be on the nation’s capital and London hotels were clearly going to have to raise their game to ensure they could provide world-class accommodation.
