Extreme weather continues to play a huge role in travel at the close of the year. Further snow across much of Britain has held up the post Christmas return from holiday. Air, rail and road have all been affected by snow.

Inverness Airport in the Scottish Highlands was just recently closed because of bad weather. Train services to and from Glasgow were also hit. This is, of course, keeping people from getting back home and getting back to work.

A series of accidents on the roadways have just added more travel misery to the picture. People in the areas where it has snowed the most are, of course, seeing the most accidents, as people are not willing to set at home and wait out the weather.

The snow seems to be the worst in Wales right now, with as much as eight to 12 inches of snow expected to be laying on the ground. There were also a lot of snow showers recently in the West Country and across the Midlands, north east England and Scotland.

Reports show that four inches of snow was expected to be on the ground just yesterday. A forecaster with MetroGroup said that most people will be able to virtually draw a line form Suffolk to Avon and say that there will be no snow south of the line. In fact, it could be 50°F in the south west of England, but in other areas, it will struggle to ever get above freezing. Thus, there could be some severe frosts over the next few days.
