One of the world’s leading car rental firms, Avis, will launch a new low emission, Avis Eco Collection this December that will guarantee customers a fuel efficient, sub-120 CO2 emissions diesel model, available at 21 locations across the UK.

The car hire company has had a CarbonNeutral accreditation since 2002, but to celebrate the implementation of the new collection, Avis would offset the emissions for every Avis Eco Car rental for December and January, and match pound-for-pound the total amount offset by its customers across the entire vehicle fleet for the period.

As part of the Avis Carbon Management Programme, reducing CO2 emissions is the key to the scheme, developed with The CarbonNeurtral Company, a world leading carbon offset and carbon Management Company.  Since the programme was launched in 1997, Avis Europe has offset over 147,000 tonnes of CO2.

Managing director of The CarbonNeutral Company, Jonathan Shipley said Avis Europe was one of their longest standing and most valued partners and have managed to work on some fantastic projects together over the last 12 years, and the launch of the Avis Eco collection only goes to further underline its commitment to working collaboratively to help protect our climate.

Head of marketing of Avis UK, Nick Mountfield, said that customers often ask to guarantee the availability of low-emission vehicles, and with the arrival of the 250 Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI as the company’s launch model for the Avis Eco Collection, they’ve ensured that customers didn’t have to compromise the quality or comfort of their vehicle to benefit from an environmentally responsible journey.
