Growth Continues at Flybe
by Stuart Parker August 2nd, 2008
While many airlines are struggling with the record high cost of fuel and reducing their flight numbers, Flybe, an airline based in Scotland, continues to strongly grow. Flybe is getting ready to launch 117 additional flights very soon. They will also be initiating a connections package that will enable their passengers to book a combination of flights with just one transaction. Presently, the airline is serving 55 destinations with 170 flights on 21 domestic and European routes. Mike Rutter, the Chief Commercial Officer for the carrier, said that their deal with Loganair, which is recent, will consolidate their position even further. Flybe and Loganair have a franchise agreement that will give both of the carriers the opportunity to expand their services to even more destinations. This will even help their passengers in planning their itineraries more efficiently.
Also recently, Flybe started operating direct flights from Guernsey to Paris, which has boosted their position as a major airline of Channel Island. They have also made an exclusive agreement with Avis, a car hire company, for the next 3 years. This will give both of the companies the opportunity of offering integrated services to their customers for flights and car hire services. On Monday, earlier this week, Flybe announced another big development on their road expansion. The carrier has teamed up with Hahn Airlines in order to offer connect-flights for routes that are serviced by both airlines. This will also give over 60,000 travel agents in over 100 countries the opportunity to offer electronic tickets for Flybe flights. This will provide Flybe with more exposure and a better presence worldwide.
