Stansted Airport is a large passenger airport and it is the third biggest airport in London. This airport is located about 30 miles North-East of London and only 2 miles from Bishop’s Stortford. The airport handles 20 million passengers per year which makes it one of the busiest airports in the world. But 20 million is not enough for this airport. They are currently updating their place to be able to handle 25 million passengers per year.

They currently only have one runway but a second runway is being introduced to the construction committee and if it is approved it should be up and running in the year 2015. In the past year nearly 6,000 square meters of floor space were built which gave more room for luggage. A new passport control hall was also recently built with improved facilities. Transportations to and from the airport include various trains, coaches, and buses. The Stansted Express is a rail service which runs into many areas of London. Car hire is also available from the airport; there are many companies to choose from, such as Avis, Hertz and National. There is a very large parking area with a parking garage as well.

To make sure you get filled up before your departure you will be happy to see the wide selection of places to eat. Some of those places are Kristy Kreme, Caffe Alba, Costa, Caviar House and Seafood Bar, Frankie and Benny’s Deli, Soup Pod, and Starbucks. The fun doesn’t stop there when you are ready to do some shopping before the trip. You can check out The Body Shop, Boots, Borders, HMV Music, Hugo Boss, World of Whiskies, or the Sunglass Hut. There are many places to see and explore just on the ground floor of the Stansted Airport.
