Ruzyne International Airport, also called the Prague Airport (because the name is shorter), is the airport that takes care of Prague in Czech Republic. It may come of no shock that this airport serves as the main hub for the Czech Airlines (after all it does serve that area). This is a grand airport that was open back in April of 1937. Since its opening, it has grown into one of the busiest airports in all of Eastern (as well as Central) Europe. In fact, one place even ranked it as one of the best airports in all of Europe. Because of all the people that like to fly into this area and how nice this airport is, this airport takes in about 12 million passengers a year. Last year (in 2007) they actually took in almost 12.5 million, making it one of the busiest years they ever had.

However, just because they are busy does not mean that they are going to stop serving these areas. In fact, for 2008 they are hoping to increase the number of people that they have traveling with them to 13 million. That would be a 0.5 increase from what they had last year. This is an airport that has two runways that are in service. However, you should also keep in mind that it does have another runway (or a third runway) that is not in use anymore. If they keep growing, there is talk of opening that runway back up. Of course, that is just pure talk at this point. No one knows for sure.

There is only a bus service available from the airport to transport you into the city centre, unfortunately there is not a rail service running to the airport. However taxis, mini and shuttle busses are another favorable option and are reasonably inexpensive.  A further transport option would be car hire; car rental provides the freedom to go and experience all that Prague has to offer. Budget, Avis, National, Sixt, Europcar and CS-Czechocar are all represented at the airport.
