Situated in the heart of central Portugal lies Torres Novas. With 17 parishes making up the municipality, over 40,000 inhabitants call the town home. Torres Novas is only 80kms northeast of Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal. Travelling throughout the city can be achieved most effectively with car hire at Torres Novas.

Several major roadways pass through or near the city of Torres Novas, including the N349 and E806. The E806 is also known as the Auto Estrada da Beira-Interior, which connects the central region of Portugal to a variety of major cities in the country, including Lisbon and Porto.

Although the city doesn’t have any five-star world renowned hotel chains, the accommodation available does provide comfortable and spacious rooms, and excellent service and facilities. Tourism does not play a significant role in the town’s economy. Textiles and paper mills are the backbone of the town. Nevertheless, that’s not to say that tourism in Torres Novas is entirely dead. As a matter of fact, the city has a range of restaurants, cafes, and attractions to entertain visitors. Car rental at Torres Novas is one of the most used means of transport within the city.

The town was constructed around a central fortification, and subsequently walled in to prevent attack from outsiders. The fort wall has long since been demolished, but visitors can still see the spectacular castle located in the centre of the city. This is the main, but the only, attraction in Torres Novas.
