Larnaca Airport is located in Larnaca, Cyprus and it operates internationally. There is one passenger terminal and one large apron that handles all the aircrafts. You will also see facilities for fueling and cargo. This airport began working in the year 1974. The site that the airport is on right now was previously used as an airfield in the 1930s. When the airport first began the first airway was too short to handle jet planes but has been reconstructed to handle them. The new runway is now 8858 feet long and the elevation is at 8 feet.

The airport now has a new control tower and also a fire station located next to the administration office to help secure passengers safety. In 2013 the new construction on the airport will develop expansions that will allow the airport to handle 9 million passengers every year and the runway will also have a 500 meter extension. This airport offers many of the basic services that you will find at most airports such as restaurants, shopping, help desks, information booths, wireless internet, pet friendly, and services for disabled and special needs passengers.

There are also a couple of car hire services, Argus, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz naming a few. There is a bus service available from the airport to transport you to your destination, and taxi’s are available 24 hours a day. Some of the popular destinations that passengers are visiting when they use this airport are Athens, Kuwait, Frankfurt, The Middle East, Cairo, London and Birmingham. In the summer of 2007 there was an accident that included 3 construction workers. They were injured when part of a new concrete floor collapsed at the construction site of a new terminal. The workers were not in critical condition and they continued working at the Larnaca Airport.
