When you are flying into Scotland, there is a good chance that you might end up flying into Aberdeen Airport. That is because it just so happens to be the third largest airport in all of Scotland. The airport itself is located in Dyce, which is actually about five miles north of Aberdeen’s city center. A total number of about 3.5 million people used Aberdeen airport in 2007. This was a record, because it was almost an eight percent increase from 2006. With all the new people looking to fly into Aberdeen, this airport may be forced to upgrade if it’s going to be able to handle all the new passengers. The airport is also owned (and operated) by the BAA.  On top of all this, Aberdeen Airport just so happens to be the main hub of BMI regional and Eastern Airways.

When visiting this airport, you will notice right away that it only has one main passenger terminal. However, it does have three other terminals, but those are dedicated to the North Sea helicopter operations. This terminal also offers a whole bunch of different shopping areas, as well as eating facilities. There is also a gaming area for the kids. This will help them pass the time when they are waiting to get on their flight. Also, this airport just so happens to offer free internet access (via Wif-Fi), as well as great executive lounges. On top of this, there is also a hotel that is located on site. This means that you can choose to sleep right at the airport if that is what you wish to do. Aberdeen airport has many car hire suppliers located on site, these include Alamo, Enterprise, Avis, Hertz, Europcar and National. They all offer cheap car hire making it inexpensive and easy to travel in Scotland and see the beautiful countryside.
